Setting up and activating Silence Detection for your station is very straightforward – this article will show you how.
First, head to Studio (studio.streamerr.co). From here, select your eligible service on the left hand side navigation menu. Please note that only Pro services are eligible to use our Silence Detection feature.
Now, click the ‘Edit’ button found in the ‘Silence Detection’ box.
Now, you will need to enter the stream URL that you want our Silence Detection service to monitor. We always recommend using a direct stream URL – that is a stream URL with a proper suffix, such as ‘/stream’ or simply ‘/;’.
You can use the ‘Test Stream’ button to ensure that Studio is able to successfully connect to and monitor your stream.
Click ‘Next’. On the ‘Configure Thresholds’ tab, you’ll be able to set a silence level and a silence duration – these are the values that determine when you are alerted of a silence. As the tooltip suggests, we recommend starting with -40db and 30 seconds. You can always change them later.
Click ‘Next’ once you’re happy with your settings on the ‘Configure Thresholds’ page.
Now, on the ‘Notifications’ page, simply enter the email address that you would like to receive silence notifications at, and click ‘Start Monitoring’.
Email notifications are now enabled. To set up SMS or voice call notifications, simply turn the relevant toggles on, and enter your SMS number including the country code.
Please note that SMS and voice call notifications require credits – 10 credits are provided free of charge each month, and you can purchase more credits using the button provided. One SMS or voice call will use one credit.
You can also configure webhook notifications using your webhook URL. This webhook will receive a POST request with the alert details.
Now, you just need to switch the ‘Monitoring Disabled’ toggle to ‘Monitoring Enabled’.
That’s it – you’re done! Silence Detection is now enabled and monitoring your stream, and alerts will be sent via email, as well as SMS/voice call/webhook if you have configured those options.
