Preparing Your Media Files

To get us started, we need to ensure our files are tagged and labelled correctly; this will make life a lot easier in the long run. To a certain extent, all autoDJ software relies on accurate metadata information, but for LibreTime this is especially vital if you wish to use the “smart block” feature. 

Metadata is the text information which is attached to a given audio file, Artist, Title, and Length would all be examples of metadata, it’s really important to have accurate metadata if you want accurate now playing information etc.

Once we come to setting up “playlists” and “smart blocks” later on, we are going to want the software to be able to search tracks by using this information 

There are a number of tools you can use to ensure that this information is correct, before uploading to the server. You can edit metadata within LibreTime, but this would be a very time consuming process, as it isn’t possible to edit multiple tracks at once!
