How I broadcast to Cast using BUTT?

Broadcasting to your Cast service using BUTT is very simple – this guide will show you how.

First, login to Cast using this guide, and navigate to the dashboard. Then, scroll down to the ‘Streams’ section. Here, you will see a list of all the streams your Cast service is running.

From here, simply choose which stream you would like to broadcast to, and click ‘Connection Info’ to the right. This will open the correct connection information for that stream in a pop-up box.

You can use both the Icecast and Shoutcast method to connect when using BUTT – though we recommend using the Shoutcast method, as it is simpler. Click the ‘Shoutcast’ tab at the top of this pop-up box.

Now, all you need to do is enter the server hostname, port, and password into the Server Settings window in BUTT. To get here, open BUTT, click ‘Settings’, and then click on the ‘Main’ tab.

You can either add your Cast service as a new profile, or edit an existing profile. For the purpose of this guide, we will add it as a new profile. Click ‘Add’ below the ‘Server’ dropdown box.

This will open the ‘Add Server’ window. Enter a name in the ‘Name’ field for your settings profile – this is only used by BUTT. Now all you need to do is select Shoutcast as the ‘Type’, enter the server hostname in the ‘Address’ box, and enter the port and password. You can copy and paste these details directly from Cast.

Make sure you click ‘Add’ at the bottom of the ‘Add Server’ window. This will save your connection settings.

Click the play button in the main window of BUTT, and it will connect to your Cast service. Congratulations! You’re now streaming live.

You can follow this guide to broadcast to any of your other streams – just ensure that you input the correct connection information into BUTT, as per the ‘Connection info’ for each stream.

You can broadcast with BUTT using the Icecast method too – simply ensure that you enter the mount point and username as well as the server hostname, port, and password.
