Creating playlists and assigning your media to them using MediaCP is very straightforward – this article will guide you through the process.
First, you’ll need to have at least one mount point with the AutoDJ enabled. A guide on doing this can be found here. Once you’ve done that, click ‘Playlists‘ on the left hand side navigation menu in MediaCP. Then, click ‘Create Playlist‘ in the top right corner.
Choose a name, define a set of scheduled hours for this playlist to be active between (leave it at 00:00 – 00:00 if you want it to be active 24/7) and set the repeat protection values for this playlist. Then, click ‘Save‘ in the bottom right corner.
Your playlist will now have been created and saved. You can now set the playlist as a general rotation playlist (general rotation playlists will play tracks automatically when there are no events scheduled, and there must be at least one general rotation playlist configured for AutoDJ to work), the weight of the playlist (a higher weight plays more frequently, and a lower weight plays less frequently), and the playlist’s playback order – this can be sequential or shuffled.
Now, we just need to assign some media to this playlist! If you haven’t uploaded any media to your MediaCP service yet, we have a handy guide on this here.
Click ‘Tracks‘ to the right of your newly created playlist’s name.
You can now browse all of your uploaded media and assign it to the playlist, either by clicking the ‘+’ icon to the right of the track name, or by clicking and dragging it to the right hand side of the page. You can also use the tick boxes to the left hand side of the track name to click and drag multiple files in one go.
Once you’ve added all of your media to this playlist, click ‘Save‘ in the top right hand corner of the page.
That’s it – you’re done! Your playlist has been created, configured, and has media assigned to it! All you need to do now is fully restart your station in the Overview page to make sure your changes are saved.
